About the Subcommittees

Ad-hoc Subcommittees may be struck to deal with any pressing issues the Alliance is facing.

The Chair of a Subcommittee is selected by the Board of Directors. Members of the subcommittees do not have to be members of the organization or the Board of Directors.  A minimum of one board member will sit on the subcommittee to assist with communications with the appointed board. A subcommittee shall be comprised of a minimum of two people.

The Subcommittees shall provide a written report to be circulated to the Board of Directors. Highlights, a summary of the report or the full report is to be made available to the membership by being placed on our website. Subcommittees should submit a quarterly report, ideally prior to any board meetings. The subcommittees are responsible to report directly to the Board.

Subcommittees are designed to promote discussion and on-going communication with the membership in a specific area. Subcommittees assist with any specific issues relating to recommendations brought forward at the National Conference.

Subcommittees are asked to report to the Board of Directors and may suggest actions to the Board of Directors. At that time, the Board will make a decision as to whether the subcommittee is to act on the recommendation or not.  Subcommittee members may represent the IMAA at meetings as deemed pertinent by the chair of the Subcommittee. Subcommittee members may not make any decisions that contravene the mandate of the organization itself or the by-laws of the corporation.

Subcommittee members should also not enter into any negotiation that holds the IMAA liable without expressed consent from the Board of Directors. If a negotiation that requires financial support or commitment from the IMAA is to happen, it should be done by the Board of Directors, the National Director or their appointed representative.

Subcommittees may source outside experts in a given area to help oversee their tasks.
