Join MEDIA ARTS CONNECT : The IMAA initiated Discord server!

We are excited to announce the launch of Media Arts Connect, the Discord server for the media arts community across the country to come together, brainstorm, problem solve, and build connections.

Coming out of many conversations with our membership and the needs of our evolving interConnect project, Media Arts Connect is a server that seeks to meet the multiple needs of our community. Over the past months, we’ve been consulting with members and colleagues to offer a safe and accessible server; we are now excited to share it with the community at large and discover all the ways in which it can keep getting better tailored to the needs of our sector.

On Media Arts Connect you will find channels to discuss technical questions, you’ll be able to follow up on the 2022 National Gathering Streams, connect by region, share your take about Hot Topics, join the Festival Caucus, and many others!

The server officially launches Thursday, November 10, but you can join today by following this link:  https://discord.gg/U98jndMShC

On November 10, 1-3pm (EST), we will host an informal launch get together where you  can log on and get familiar with the space. The IMAA team will be present to engage in conversation, troubleshoot issues, and get to know the server better!

Follow this link to add the Discord event to your server activities.

Big thank you to Stephanie P. Butler for her hard work setting up the digital space and all the folks who had conversations with us and beta tested the server to ensure that we had dotted our i’s and crossed our t’s before making it live.

That said, there are certainly still blind spots, omissions, mistakes and contradictions on the server: if you have any feedback regarding the structure, the format, the language or anything else please get in touch with Benjamin J. Allard (il/him) at proj@imaa.ca with your feedback.
If you want to learn more about how to use the Discord, you can read our help document.
